SUMMARY

The primary role of this position is to design, engineer, and deliver Azure, M365, and hybrid datacenter solutions.  The Senior Systems Engineer creates end-to-end cloud/hybrid architectures, including the operational deployment & administration of systems.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deploying M365 workloads (Intune, Defender, Teams, OneDrive, AVD); S2S VPN; installations & troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical support to assist in the sale, installation, and support of company products.
  • Conduct and/or participate in demonstrations, customer evaluations, and ROI analyses. Deliver technical presentations and respond to technical questions during sales calls. Provide technical content for bids and sales proposals.
  • Provide direct sales support in operating systems, performance conversion, and complex configuration planning.
  • Develop, design, and recommend solutions including Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) hybrid, Microsoft Exchange/Exchange Online with a strong understanding of migration methodologies between these platforms and hybrid coexistence, Microsoft SQL Server, Office 365 (and all Office 365 components), and related hardware and software products.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud platform with the ability to design and deploy infrastructure services inside of Azure, along with hybrid models utilizing Site-to-Site VPN tunnels to OnPrem locations.
  • Design, deploy, and troubleshoot Microsoft Cloud offerings including Intune, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and Azure Virtual Desktop (VDI).
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of operating systems, hardware systems, peripheral products, conversion techniques, and performance methods of all company offerings.
  • Install products and connect servers at customer sites as required.
  • Train customers in the use of hardware and software.
  • Establish and cultivate ongoing business relationships with customers to facilitate additional business.
  • Document prospect and customer contact activity and customer configuration information in Salesforce.com. 
  • Document personal activity with status and time reporting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science or Information Technology) from a four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven or more years of professional experience, including four or more years of experience selling, maintaining, or installing client/server hardware and software systems and five or more years of experience with Microsoft products and environments.
  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure architectures, including physical servers, storage devices (including SAN/NAS/DAS), storage networking protocols (iSCSI, FC, DirectAttached), backup/disaster recovery ideologies and implementation, and networking stack for communications.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) hybrid; exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Exchange/Exchange Online with a strong understanding of migration methodologies between these platforms and hybrid coexistence.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration and migration, particularly MS SQL, SSIS, and SSRS migration.
  • Required knowledge of Microsoft Fileservers, DFS replication, sharing, and migration methodologies for fileservers. Strong administrative understanding of Group Policy and Policy modification. Strong administrative understanding of Print Servers and Print Server migration.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Office 365 (and all Office 365 components) – stand-alone and hybrid configuration, with an understanding of migration practices both from Exchange and non-Exchange (IMAP) systems.
  • Required knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Intune, Defender products, and OneDrive.Strong understanding of Azure services, configuration, implementation, and migration. 
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft SCCM. Strong understanding of workstations and provisioning in the Active Directory Forest/Domain model.
  • MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) Certification. 
  • Requires physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds for product installations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED

  • Robust working level knowledge of virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper V, and/or XenServer)
  • Familiarity with most if not all Microsoft server platforms and technologies.
  • Experience in consulting or a history of handling multiple different customer scenarios. MCSA / MCSE / MCAA / or 1 basic Microsoft Fundamentals (current/up-to-date) and 1 Microsoft Intermediate (current/up-to-date) certifications are preferred, but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Requires a minimum of 20% travel for product installations, training, and meetings.

The base salary pay range for this position is $130,000- 160,000. Compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual.  Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401k, and flexible spending.
